Hyunseo Hwang earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008. His research interests center on the intersection of political communication and new communication technologies, with particular interests in 1) the role of mass media and the Internet in deliberative democracy; 2) the influence of mass mediated communication on cognitive process and attitude formation; and 3) the role the media, in particular the Internet, plays in encouraging engagement in civic and political life.
