Graduate Program

The small class sizes in our graduate program afford students a personal educational experience and extensive contact with our distinguished faculty members.

Master's Program

The Department of Communication offers two tracks toward the M.A. degree: a Thesis Plan, and a Non-thesis Plan.

Doctoral Program

If you are interested in doctoral-level studies, you may apply to the Ph.D. program even if your highest educational credential is a bachelor's degree.

Mission Statement

The mission of our graduate program is to promote research and understanding of human communication and to train qualified students to pursue careers in research and teaching within and beyond higher education.

Financial Support

Various opportunities for financial assistance are available to UC Davis graduate students.

Small Grants Program

M.A. and Ph.D. students in the Department of Communication who have not yet advanced to candidacy may apply for up to $500 in Small-Grants Program funding for research. Students who have advanced to candidacy are not eligible because their dissertation research is supported through a different mechanism.
