DESCRIPTION

One of the great things about CMN 10Y is that it also introduces students to the faculty and courses in the UC Davis Department of Communication. CMN 10Y is a hybrid course, meaning that much of the instructional material is presented through online videos, readings and activities. Each member of the department faculty has produced online videos for CMN 10Y; with these videos, students can learn from experts in each field within the discipline of communication.

In CMN 10Y, students are introduced to a wide variety of topics in the field of communication, including:

  • basic models of communication
  • interpersonal communication
  • nonverbal communication
  • computer-mediated communication
  • communication networks
  • mass communication
  • communication and cognition
  • principles of persuasion
  • health communication
  • video games
  • entertainment
  • political communication
