Resurrect or Put to Rest? Identifying Abandoned Projects That Are Worth Saving
Workshop Facilitators: Sofia Rhea & Allyson Snyder

Sofia & Allyson

Abstract
This week's brown bag will be a structured workshop for both faculty and grad students to discuss manuscripts in "purgatory" - think papers that have been rejected and have not gone back out for review, projects that were abandoned by a co-author and have yet to be revived, or datasets that are collected with no current plans for analyses due to various obstacles.

Everyone will have the opportunity to share brief summaries of their purgatory projects and work across labs to see if these manuscripts should be resurrected or put to rest. Faculty can provide valuable insight to students by helping them prioritize other work or giving advice about how to bolster a project to get it journal ready. Further, faculty and students may find potential collaborators to help get projects from purgatory to publication ready.

Whether you have abandoned projects or not, this workshop can be valuable for identifying collaborators and working with pre-existing data. No advance preparation required!
