Drop-in Advising

Drop-in Advising is managed by both peer advisors and staff advisors. Here's what you can expect:

• Drop-in advising is meant to be brief (10-15 minutes)
• Expect longer wait times during week 1 of the quarter, and during Pass 1 and Pass 2 course registration
• The drop-in schedule is subject to change; please check before arriving
• Unfortunately, the Virtual Front Desk only allows current students to sign in. If you are not a current student, please email cmnadvising@ucdavis.edu for support
• Drop-in advising attendance will NOT count towards clearing major advising holds – if you have a major advising hold, or have any in-depth questions to discuss, please make an advising appointment at appointments.ucdavis.edu

What to expect: Click the link above, fill out a brief description of your questions, and an advisor will invite you to their Zoom room shortly. **Click the "Speak with advisor" link in the Virtual Front Desk to get connected to your advisor's Zoom room.**

Note: if it's your first time joining, you may need to click "Allow" on the UC Davis Authorization page that comes up.

The goal of academic advising is to help you shape a meaningful educational experience. The elements of that education include your classes, your co-curricular activities, your work, and your personal experiences. Through ongoing reflection and discussion, with your interests and goals in mind, you will integrate all the elements of your college experience so you can make the most of your education. You need to be actively engaged in the process of defining your academic goals, and sharing those goals with your advisor in a series of conversations that extend over your entire undergraduate years.
