Study by Gong, Huskey, Xue, Shen, & Frey Investigates Information Diffusion on Social Media

People Engage Inside and Outside Their Community, Especially During World Events

Graduate students Xuanjun (Jason) Gong and Haoning Xue, along with professors Richard Huskey, Cuihua Shen, and Seth Frey, published an article in the Journal of Communication investigating how information diffusion shapes public discourse. Their study found that important real-world events align public discourse and disrupt echo chambers and filter bubbles. A summary of the article was also featured on UC Davis News.
