Study by Stevens, Oh, & Taylor Investigates COVID-19 Desensitization

The level of anxiety in users’ tweets increased sharply in response to news article anxiety early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, but as the casualty count climbed, news articles seemingly lost their ability to elicit anxiety among readers.

Graduate Students Hannah Stevens and Yoo Jung (Erika) Oh, along with Professor Laramie Taylor, published an article in the Journal of Medical Internet Research Infodemiology investigating desensitization to COVID-19 messages. A summary of the article was also featured on UC Davis News.
