Study Abroad Student Video Competition for Communication Majors
Study Abroad Student Video Competition for Communication Majors
Have you studied abroad through the UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)? If so, your experience could help another Communication student take the next step in their study abroad journey - and you could earn a $250 Amazon gift card!
The Department of Communication invites currently enrolled Communication majors, who have studied abroad in a UCEAP program within the past four years (2022-2026), to create a short video about their experience.
We want to help students understand the value of studying abroad, find courses that support the Communication major, and plan an international experience that fits their academic and financial goals.
Awards
A committee of Communication faculty and advising staff will judge the video submissions. Videos will be assessed on their insight and reflection; creativity, storytelling, and clarity; and informational value for other students interested in studying abroad.
Up to four winning videos will be selected, and each winner will receive a $250 Amazon gift card. Awards will be based on the quality of eligible submissions. Fewer than four awards may be made.
Creating Your Video
Submit a 2-6 minute video sharing the parts of your study abroad experience that would be most helpful or meaningful to other Communication students.
You might discuss:
- How you identified courses that applied to the Communication major
- Your experience receiving Communication major credit for courses taken abroad
- The academic you completed before leaving
- How studying abroad fit into your degree progress and graduation plans
- What you learned academically, professionally, or personally
- Advice you would offer other Communication students (i.e. tips for making friends, navigating the public transportation system, making the most of your experience)
