UC Davis Alumnus Receives Early Career Award from PHEHP

Professor CJ Calabrese, an alumnus of the doctoral program in the Department of Communication at UC Davis, has received the Early Career AAward from the Public Health Education and Health Promotion section of the American Public Health Association. The award recognizes scholars who make an outstanding contribution to public health through their research and leadership in the first ten years after receiving their doctorate. Dr. Calabrese’s award is particularly impressive given that he graduated in 2021.

Professor Calabrese is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Clemson University in South Carolina. fHis research focuses on how online technologies influence the way people make decisions, particularly in the areas of health. His work seeks to understand how to design health promotion messages so that they are more effective.

Dr. Calabrese is actually a three-time UC Davis alumnus; in addition to receiving his PhD from the Department of Communication, he received a Masters of Public Health from Davis in 2016, and a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2015.
