Bio

Claire Wonjeong Jo is a PhD student in the Department of Communication at the University of California, Davis (Advisor: Dr. Magdalena Wojcieszak)

Her research interest lies in computational social science and political communication, especially focusing on mitigating online harm and negativity. On the one hand, she develops measures and methods to identify harmful content. On the other hand, she explores partisan news consumption environments that can minimize uncivil behavioral reactions. 

Methodologically, she uses computational approaches, such as network analysis, NLP, and LLMs, to analyze digital trace data.
